Peanut We Are All Squirrels To Them Shirt: A Nutty Tribute to Our Furry Friends
A declaration of solidarity with the squirrels, those acrobatic, bushy-tailed denizens of our parks and backyards. The “Peanut We Are All Squirrels To Them Shirt” playfully captures the essence of our relationship with these creatures, reminding us that in the eyes of a squirrel, we’re all just potential sources of tasty treats.

Peanut the squirrel was an internet sensation known for his playful antics and close bond with his owner, Mark Longo. Fred, a rescued raccoon, also shared a home with Longo on his property, P’nuts Freedom Farm, in rural New York.
Tragically, on October 30, 2024, officers from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) raided Longo’s home and seized both Peanut and Fred. According to the DEC, the animals were taken because it is illegal to keep wild animals as pets in New York, and they posed a potential rabies risk.
Despite Longo’s insistence that Peanut was not a danger and a petition signed by tens of thousands demanding their return, the DEC euthanized both animals on November 1, 2024. The DEC stated that this was necessary to test them for rabies after an officer was allegedly bitten by Peanut during the seizure.
This incident has sparked outrage and grief among animal lovers worldwide. Many question the necessity of euthanizing the animals, especially considering the non-lethal rabies testing options available.
